Community Wings: Who we are
A non-profit community aid organization serving Montreal's West Island & Vaudreuil-Soulanges in Quebec
Community Wings is a non-profit community aid organization that distributes food, household supplies as well as gently used clothing and furniture to families in crisis in the West Island area of Montreal and in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Quebec, Canada.
Begun in 2013 by a group of local mothers, the organization's mission is to recreate a sense of community in larger suburban areas by bringing together families as well as local businesses and recreational groups to support families in need. Target clientele include local families that have experienced a traumatic event such as a fire or major illness, who are suffering from the effects of conjugal violence, or who find themselves in financial difficulty.
To fulfill this mandate Community Wings is run entirely by volunteers and focuses on seeking, transporting, sorting and redistributing donations from community members. If you would like to assist with our mission please find out how you can help, or contact us.
Message from the President Dedicated to making a difference in the community... "Community Wings was started by a group of mothers with tremendous dreams for the future. Dedicated to making a difference in the community by taking care of needy families, we are also committed to raising awareness of the inequities in our society. We hope to have a lasting impact on the way people treat each other. Modern culture and advances in technology have minimized face-to-face communication and accelerated the pace at which we live our lives. It has become less common to get to know our neighbors and to band together to help those who are struggling. Community Wings provides the means for local citizens to give back locally and expand their connections in the community. We also encourage everyday acts of kindness and reconnection with those around us - whether it is by saying hello to our neighbors, helping someone carry their groceries, or paying for the coffee of the person behind us at the drive-through, everyone can do their small part to change things for the better." - Selina Richard, President & Founder, Community Wings
